Our History
The Macasa Learning Center is a non-sectarian, government-recognized private school in Mambog, Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines. It was founded by Mrs. Joy Macasa in 1983. Her children were reaching preschool age and she wanted to be close to them and teach them herself. So she opened her own school and taught them along with a number of children from the neighborhood in Soldier's Hills, Muntinlupa City. She learned the Montessori form of teaching from one of the first Montessori schools in the Philippines where she taught before moving there so she named the school “Macasa Montessori Children's House”.
After a couple of years they moved to Cavite and she took the school along with her so they can continue to offer quality education at a reasonable price. In 1999 the school was expanded to offer elementary courses as well. The school's name was preschool-oriented so it was changed to “Macasa Learning Center” to include education beyond preschool. Steadily the school grew and in 2002 offered secondary courses as well. Currently the school has a population of about 520 students.
The school is a family business so the principles that govern happy families also govern the school administration. The teachers are encouraged to apply individual attention to each child along with their parents/guardians. When the children feel they are loved and important, they are encouraged to learn. The school also strives for an environment of love, respect, obedience and discipline. Under Mrs. Macasa's able management, the school hopes to educate and benefit more children in the years to come.
